Nominal Illusion

Per FreakOnomics
"the tendency for certain magnitudes to sound different when described in different units"

I'm sure you'll feel the same as what described in this article.
When Betsey got home from her morning run earlier this week, she beamed and told me she had covered eight kilometers. And this Sunday, after running the first two hours of my long weekend run, I gritted my teeth and told myself, “only five miles to go.”

The strange thing about these observations is that I’m an Aussie, and so typically talk in kilometers, while Betsey grew up in the United States, speaking in miles.

Why did we reverse roles? It turns out we were in very different situations. When I asked Betsey about her comment she said that, “ … measuring my run in kilometers makes it sound like I ran farther.” And this seems like something we may want to do once we are done jogging. In turn, I was still running when I described the last eight kilometers as five miles, and I did this because I was trying to convince my body that it didn’t have that much further to go.

* One mile is 1.6 kilometers

Like me, I am trying to "reach" a healthy weight. When I lost my first 5 kgs, I run around (ok, I called around AND only to my best friends) telling people I lost 10 lbs. Instead of 5 kg when really 1kg = 2.2 lbs. LOL. It just sounds so much better with TEN POUNDS!!! I do that quite often come to think about it. December is my brother's graduation and I am dying to go to Brisbane. What do I tell myself? Only 8 more months to go when I know freakin well that 8 months is a good 32 weeks on average. LOL.

One last example I have. A friend of mine who is I would say about 30++ weeks pregnant by now said

I've been with child for almost 30 weeks now, it's felt like forever already and it's not about to end soon either....I have 10 more weeks to incubate and feed this child with MY food.
Thirty weeks sounds like a very long time right? But if you do the math, the fetus is only 7 1/2 months old. If he would have been born then, he would be considered as a premie. So for my prego friend, please be a bit more patient ya? Because you have only 2 1/2 months left to "incubate" your baby! ;)

And another one

I just found another (well actually two) article on FreakOnomics that mentioned Malaysia. Read on. And also do read all of the comments they have. To me they are just fun reads, maybe to you there is something for you to think about?

You will not find any LemonJellos in Malaysia

By Steven D. Levitt

As reported by the BBC, Malaysia has banned “unsuitable” first names. An excerpt from the article:

Parents will not be able to call their babies after animals, insects, fruit, vegetables or colours.

Numbers are also not allowed, so little James Bonds cannot flaunt their 007 status on their ID cards.

Other restrictions stop parents giving children royal or honorary titles as names or calling their little ones after Japanese cars.

The most amusing part of the link, actually, is not to the article itself, but to the list of other BBC articles under “see also” in the upper right-hand corner of the webpage. It seems the Malaysian government has been quite busy handing out bans recently: no botox for Malaysian muslims, no suicides in movies, no plays mentioning “Volkswagen,” no lesbian kissing on screen, and a warning to tourists about kissing in public.

By the way, we are still looking for OrangeJello and LemonJello. Despite many good leads, we have not found them. If you know how to find them, please contact Dubner and Levitt. There is a small gift for you if you lead us to them.

Good Communication Skills Have Never Been So Important

By Steven D. Levitt

I got an email the other day from a blog reader who tells me that there are now more non-native English speakers than native English speakers. That leaves ample opportunities for linguistic subtleties going unnoticed. I suppose it can happen to native English speakers as well.

Here is an example:

Back in 2006, I wrote a blog post entitled “You will not find any LemonJellos in Malaysia.” The blog post referred to new laws in Malaysia that banned a variety of non-standard names for children:

Parents will not be able to call their babies after animals, insects, fruit, vegetables, or colours.

Numbers are also not allowed, so little James Bonds cannot flaunt their 007 status on their ID cards.

Other restrictions stop parents giving children royal or honorary titles as names or calling their little ones after Japanese cars.

I ended the post with a plea to blog readers to help us find the ever-elusive twins named OrangeJello and LemonJello:

By the way, we are still looking for OrangeJello and LemonJello. Despite many good leads, we have not found them. If you know how to find them, please contact Dubner and/or me. There is a small gift for you if you lead us to them.

A few days ago I got a friendly email from a woman in Malaysia. Here is what she wrote:

Just read your column. I know of two stores that sell Jello in Kuala Lumpur. Look in the Ampang area for the two expat groceries. I can’t vouch for what flavors are currently in stock but they do sell a variety of Jello flavors. Hock Chun on Jalan Ampang also might sell Jello. I believe that the grocery in KLCC also sells Jello.

Especially the one right above, is the Malaysian lady for real? Or was she pulling a joke on Steven and Stephen?

Note. One of the comments on this article said
"The French also officially practice name-banning, and a prostitute in Italy cannot call herself Maria."
Hilarious! I bet the parents didn't see that coming from their daughter when they named her Maria. Haha.

Jokes aside, this person's comment made most sense to me.

“there are now more non-native English speakers than native English speakers”

You mean in the world? Or in Malaysia? Or in the U.S.? Because if it’s one of the first two, it’s absurd, but if it’s the third, then the fact that a Malaysian woman isn’t a native speaker of English seems totally irrelevant and unsurprising.
But it is a funny story.

Malaysia-Finance posted this on Saturday. Something we all have heard one point or another.

Can you get mad at this little guy?

But kids, don't be calling 911 for a math question. Thank goodness the call dispatcher was nice enough.

Cupcakes and a friend

Today is just a normal day for me. Went to work, came home and chill. Took a few pictures of the sky. It was to me, so beautiful and it makes me feel at ease...
Photobucket
Picture came out darker. But this is the best my camera could do =)

Photobucket
The noisy neighbour's grandchildren playing outside. =)

During dinner I thought that Ooo maybe I'll bake something tonight. I haven't been baking in a long long time... When I was in the states, I make no-flour-peanut-butter cookies, brownies and etc for my co-workers as often as I could. =) So I miss the accomplished feeling you get after you bake and people love your food. Anywho, my sister was too very much wanted to bake something. So we decided to make her favorite stick-to-your-teeth-super-moist chocolate cupcakes! The end product was phenomenal!
Photobucket
Photobucket
Oh yea some B&W.

Photobucket
My favorite picture of our cupcakes!!!

Photobucket
You want some?

After the stuffed-our-faces-with-cupcakes session (wish we had cold milk at home). I went online to check my email and I saw an email from Facebook notifying me that Carleton Wong has added me on Facebook. I almost screamed and jumped for joy. LOL. He was my chemistry classmate from UH. Long story made short.
First semester in UH, I was put in an English writing class for ESL (English as Second Language) peeps. Carleton was a "helper" to one of my classmates. My classmate was injured in a Rugby game long long time ago, so now he can't walk or write. Carleton's job is to write notes for this guy. OK, that's how we met. Few weeks down the road, I realized he was actually my Chem 162 classmate. We became friends since then. And we got lost in touch. And now we are back on track after almost 5 years! LOL. Not all of the people you meet will make you feel like jumping for joy but Carleton does, for me. Haha.

P.S. No frosting on cupcakes. It would have been to sweet.

Did I tell you we went to see Horton hears a Who last last weekend? A great movie that even grown adults like me can watch. LOL. Took some pictures with my cell phone while waiting for the movie to start and was trying not to finish our pop corns.

Rebekah Del Rio

PhotobucketI read about this lady and her voice and her songs on Malaysia-Finance. I checked out her songs and they are divine... I got lost in her voice for real! Especially for people like me that love love love Spanish music. Well Malaysia-Finance linked us to another website where you could listen to her songs for free. Catch is, only half of every song is available. Haha. OK, when you do go on the other website I recommend everybody listen to Siempre Y Por Siempre (Always and Forever) first! For the English version of this song... I personally prefer Al Green's version =) Enjoy.

You might have noticed, I've added a few links. One of em is Chris Picks, he has the latest updates on Hip Hop R&B songs and MVs. AND he mixes his own tracks (free downloads). If ya like Hip Hop R&B it might be worth while to check it out!

P.S. Law of the Pitch is for the soccer peeps. They have live scores updates!

Ermmm

I logged on to Freakonomics to see what's happenin lately and I saw this. They mentioned something about Malaysian soccer crisis. Not that I know anything about football business in Malaysia. But just seeing the word Malaysia appeared on FREAKONOMICS was enough to make me feel excited! LOL. Silly I know.

If football (soccer) is not your thing, DO NOT click here.

And also check this out.

Not good at math? Blame your inner fish.
By Steven D. Levitt

New research suggests that female mosquitofish can count, but only up to four with any precision. No word on how high male mosquitofish can count. The research design is quite clever:
When males bother females, the females try to flee to the biggest group of nearby females. When given the choice between two groups — one with three other fish and another with four — the females consistently choose the group with four. When the choice is six vs. seven, they act like they can’t tell the difference. (Although maybe they count that high and they just don’t care about six vs. seven.)
They do, however, distinguish between groups that are twice as big as other groups even when the numbers are big (e.g. eight vs. sixteen). According to the article, this puts the mosquitofish on par with young children, and apparently, any human who does not have access to language as a way of helping with the counting.
As an example, Christian Agrillo, an experimental psychologist at the University of Padua in Italy, claims that the indigenous people who speak Munduruku in the Amazon don’t have words for any number higher than five, and these folks don’t count much better than the fish.
One needs to be a little careful with the direction of causality here, however. Perhaps the fact that the Munduruku don’t bother with numbers higher than five is an indicator that math isn’t really their thing to start with. (Hat tip to the always-interesting folks at Spectre.)
The similarity between fish and humans caught my attention because I’ve been reading a delightful little book by my University of Chicago colleague (who I don’t think I have ever met), Neil Shubin, entitled Your Inner Fish.
Shubin, a paleontologist, makes a convincing case for us being very fish-like physically and anatomically:
The same bones that make up fish fins are in our hands. Early on, human embryos and shark embryos look a whole lot alike.
There are dozens of examples. Perhaps this should not be surprising given that we evolved from fish, but I had never really thought about the details before. The best thing about the book is that Shubin absolutely loves what he does with the sort of child-like innocence that often typifies the best scientists. His enthusiasm is infectious.

March 25th 2008

In a few days we would've already lived through a quarter of a year. How are you doing so far? Keeping up with your new year's resolutions?? Or are you saying what resolutions??? LOL. Didn't think someone is gonna remind you of that huh?
I have so much on my mind lately. Nothing that I could share with you yet, unfortunately. =) Please bare with me.

Wouldn't it be nice....

...if I can just sit on the moon and people watch?

Woke up at 615AM, sat up from my bed and I could see a beautiful golden full moon setting over my neighbor's home. And I thought how gorgeous? and it's about to go check on the other side of the world... I wish I can just sit on the moon, follow the moon goes round round the earth, every single
day night. When I feel like it or when I miss my friends, vice versa, I should just pop by and see how they are doing. After a coffee session with them, I would jump back on to the moon and go home.
Every time when I look at the moon, I knew that as soon as the moon leaves my side of the world, it shall greet my friends in a few moments...

miss you...

Last night was a weird night, it hadn't happen to me in ages... It was around 15 to 10PM, I remember me lying on my bed thinking about somethings... Then I had a few dreams, then I woke up my lights were still on. I thought OK maybe I just dozed off for a few minutes but when I looked at my clock, it was already 430AM!!!! And I saw an envelope on the floor near my door, half awake thinking oh is that my mail that was slipped through the door? Got up walked over picked it up opened it, a card with a fishbowl and one cute fish inside... I wanted to read the card but was too sleepy. So I switched off the lights and went back to bed.
My alarm went off at 600Am, I snoozed until 630Am. I jumped up from sleep and it was already 700Am!!!!!!!!! My goodness. I slept like I haven't slept for as long as I live. OK OK that's not the point of this blog. LOL.

Remember the card that I was telling you about. Yea. It was from my sissy! Aww... I finally read the card when I got to work just now. Here is what she has to say... verbatim.
I am watching the sky
wishing something will fall into my bowl
Food, I guess.
I waited, and waited, AND WAITED,
Finally I see something...
A kite? A plane? FOOD?
That dot becomes bigger, and bigger...
Oh my, it's huge..
And it's rushing towards ME!
Huh? Another feesh?
Yay I have a friend!
And she's my JAE

Aww...... Isn't she the sweetest thing? And of words that were printed on the card says
without you my world
feels small and lonely

I know that was how she felt for all those years (5 years almost 6) that I wasn't home... I really did miss out on her life as she was growing up. But hey! I am home now and we do spend a lot of time together. =)

I LOVE YOU SIS! MUAH!

P.S. Jae (jie) is a nickname that she uses besides che, both means older sister. And I called her mie (mei), meaning younger sister. The correct Han Yu Pin Yin is in Italic.

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yesterday I went shopping with my mother and sister at M.V. AS usual I don't use the restrooms there instead I would walk over to The Gardens to use their nice and clean restrooms. Guess what's going on down there?

THEY FREAKIN CHARGE YOU RM5 TO USE THE LOO there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT THE FUCK?

They "placed" a guy in a black SUIT sitting at the entrance of the mens and the ladies asking for RM5. There was a sign that said "Premium? Premier? Toilets Rm5 per entrance" I can't remember if it's premium or premier because I was too mad to look carefully. Guys tell me if I miss understood them. Or maybe they meant if you wanna use the 24k gold plated toilets and sinks made of Swarovski crystals then pay RM5 to get in??? I don't know! I just think it is FUCKED up to be charging us that much for bare necessity-- clean toilets.

Errmmm... so much for a country that's supposedly trying to get better.

We had a blast!

The long wait in line, the hot sun, the mercy-less rain, the ever so over priced can of Coke (RM4 per can), it was all well worth!
Saturday morning woke up had breakfast, the next thing I know, Effa is coming to pick me up at 12noon. We planned to go to the concert later in the day but I'm glad we've decided to go early to get a nice parking spot. Indeed we found a pretty close by parking spot (only 10mins walk from the entrance) which is along the side of a highway (don't ask me where it was). We waited in the car from 1230 to around 130 for Effa's friends so that we can go in together since Effa's ticket was with them. The show is suppose to start at 200PM but we were still in line waiting at the entrance at about 230. I was really annoyed, yes me being a stuck up bitch. I can't stand the Malaysian time concept i.e. it is OK to be late for EVERYTHING.
Anywho we finally got in without any complications, besides the long wait of course. The Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club is HUGE, plenty of room for so many of us. Great thinking there organizer. Reportedly 11000 or 12000? ppl showed up.
Lemme tell ya at this point, the sun was really hot. I was thinking how on earth am I gonna through this? Then Effa's sister said that let's hope it rains coz it'd be cooler that way. Boy did it rain. Dogs and cats if I may. It started raining while Popshuvit was performing, the lead singer came down from the stage, stood in the rain and sang for us. How cool is that? And the rain stopped when
HUJAN (rain) finished performing LOL I'm not kidding. Effa, her sisters (Nadiah & Hannah) and I parked at the front roll of SKY stage all evening and night coz it was where great bands like Popshuvit, George Clinton and Parliament Funkedelic, The Roots and John Legend would be performing from 600PM onwards. We did leave for a bit for foods and drinks but only with two ppl leaving the spot at once. lol.
The crowd got bigger and bigger as the night proceed so yea, almost everyone there that night stood before SKY stage waiting for John Legend!!! We heard the Malay kids behind us yelling
abang John!!, brother John!!, abang John Legend!!, it was so cute and hilarious!!! I wonder what John Legend would think if he'd heard that.
It was a little over 1200am we couldn't handle the chilly-ness anymore, we got soaking wet from head to toe, we partied until our clothes dried off, but our jeans were still wet. So we left before Incubus finished their act. No no not missing out on anything. Coz I only know two of their songs. Haha! I mean Incubus is not my cuppa tea.

When everything is all said and done. I really want to thank the organizer, Pineapple Concerts. I don't know how they managed to bring in such Awesome bands to play at this concert. Thank you thank you!!!

Tag you're it

Just realized I was really tagged by Heay.  I told her not to tag me!!!  Haha.  It's alright tho.  Since I can't work on the post that I'm working on.  This would be a great passing time game.  Sweet, now, I'm suppose to list EIGHT facts about myself.  Here it goes.

Numero Uno:  When I was younger I never wanted to become a teacher coz I think they have tons of work but get little pay.

FACT 2:  I am infatuated with the color white.  I have white almost everything, my laptop, mouse, speaker, bags, swim suit, tops, pants, skirts, shoes, hat, etc.  If they have my phone in white, I'll probably get it on white too.  When I'm shopping for clothes, I am automatically attracted to white tops.  I seriously need to get over that coz I need a more colorful wardrobe.
P.S.  I don't like my man white tho. LOL.  Dark chocolate is my preference.

FACT 3:  I love love love my family and my friends and my coworkers.  Without them...  Life wouldn't be what it is now.  Thank you! MUAH!!!

FACT 4:  I could be SUPER anti social at times.  Take it or leave it.

FACT 5:  People think I am weird coz I started listening to oldies when I was 14.  Old like nat king cole and elvis and etta james.

FACT 6:  I love pasta.  I know I'm Asian and all but I can live on pasta no problem.  I might be a Italian my past life. ;)

FACT 7:  I hated school until I started college then I began enjoying the idea of education.  YUP.

FACT 8:  Wow, I can't believe this is the last one that I have to spill.  I have eleven picture frames in my bedroom, five of them were gifts from friends and coworkers.  =)  I do have a thing for picture frames, fancy or not.  My buddies know what to get me for christmas/burfday that I'll always love.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MY GIRL ERIN

I am working on a new entry.  But photobucket just ain't happenin for me.  It wouldn't let me upload any pictures.  I didn't wanna post it without pictures.  Please be bare with me here aight. =)
Other than that little hiccup with photobucket.
I want to congratulate my best friend Erin!!!!!!!  She finally did it!  Passing her RD exam about 4 hours ago in Hawaii.  I am so happy for her and so proud of her.  =)  Now she can make more money to come visit me in Malaysia.  Haha.

GO ERIN

This place this island

This place is where my alma mater is. This island is where I grew out of my late teens and into my early twenties. This place is where I've done so much (good ones and bad ones) in such a short amount of time. This island is where I made friends whom I will always remember and cherish. This place is where I got my heart broken and mended and broken and mended. This place is a paradise. This island means so much to me. What sparked the light into writing this post? Erin, my best friend, visiting (not for fun) Hawaii this week. We spoke on the phone yesterday and this morning. The conversation lasted longer than usual because I wouldn't let her get off the phone with me, reason being I wanted to feel like I'm in Hawaii too. The feeling was especially real when I couldn't hear her talking because the wind is so strong and all I could hear was the wind... She was walking through the streets that I once was; she was eating at the cafeteria that we often dine in; she was studying at the library that we used to study too! All the good old memories just came crashing down on me. I'm sure most people who lived in Hawaii would feel the same way too, for example, Effa. When I posted old pictures way back in the days, she told me: "Yash..gosh!! I miss Kahawai...seriously, those were the best times ever!!" Effa is from Penang, Malaysia. However, we have to travel half the way around the world to meet each other, we eventually became roommates and she became one of my best friends. Now, we both live in Kuala Lumpur. =) I first went to Hawaii about three months after 9/11. The airport was a scary place to be and everyone thinks everyone is a terrorist, especially when you're holding a Malaysian (Islamic country) passport. Haha. It was also the first time I celebrated my birthday away from home. I remember me staying in a hotel room, my dad and my brother were in the room next to mine sleeping. I watched TV, they were counting down in the Big Apple and later when midnight strikes, fireworks went off in Waikiki and Honolulu. This also marked a new chapter of my life and the beginning of year 2002.
I have too many stories to tell about life in Hawaii. So I will post random pictures and see what story came out of those pictures.
Photobucket
This is Ala Moana beach. Where I hang out most weekends during my first semester at UH.

Photobucket
Manoa Valley within walking distance from UH about a 15mins walk. A very nice neighborhood, they have my favorite Starbucks, Andy's Sandwich (YUM), Long's Drugstore, Safeway (a grocery store) , Manoa Sushi (cheap sushi available), Oh McDonald's too! how can I forget that.

Photobucket
Do you remember where this is? UH's big parking buliding ;)

Photobucket
For those of us who don't own a car on O'ahu. They are our best friends!!!! Will take you almost everywhere. I've taken this bus to UH football game, I've taken this bus to Kailua (what a long journey!), Arizona Memorial (with dad and brother), Waipahu (for volunteering business) and etc.

Photobucket
PUCK'S ALLEY. This is place always give me a hippie vibe... A familiar corner for UH students.

Photobucket
Spring break 02' Big Island. These girls are from Malaysia and one's from Singapore. Thanks to them I get to venture off O'ahu. We had a blast in that few days trip. And our "tour guide" Andrew was awesome! Andrew is friend of Joan and he is local to Big Island so he knows where to bring us to. =) All nine of us crashed at Andrew's place if I remember correctly. We didn't get much sleep those few days coz either we were on the road or getting drunk at night. LOL. One night when we visited Andrew's parents, they offered us a bottle of butterscotch with one worm (dead/drunk) soaking in the alcohol. Interesting ya. I only took one shot of it coz I couldn't bare the thought of a worm "swimming" around in my shot. Who ate the worm? Jason and Andrew shared the wealth. LOL. According to them, the worm is ALL ALCOHOL. Can't even taste the worm... That night we eat, we drink, we play pool, and we drink some more.
Best part of this trip was I get to visit
the UH observatories on Mauna Kea (White Mountain, literally). The altitude is so high that we have to take small steps to get around. Oh boy, climbing up the stairs was impossible for us that are not used to the thin air environment. Our guide kept telling us to take small small steps. =) Memorable experience. Oh there was snow on the ground!!!

Photobucket
@ D&B's. What us FSHN (Food Science and Human Nutrition) peeps did best: hang out and drink. Besides making sure we pass all our classes, we also get together for Karaoke, clubbing, and drinking! Coz we are fun ppl!!! Cheers to FSHN.

Photobucket
Glad I took this picture. To remind me how I lived. Single bed, one comforter, two pillows. This room is where I sleep, study, watch TV, and eat! All in one.

Photobucket
Waikiki Beach. Me and Kimmy. Just another ordinary Sunday hanging out at the beach. Such an embarrassing bikini top. Hehehe.

Photobucket
We were bored from all that papers and exams!!!!! So we acted silly, took some pics and went out to Wailana for some good French Toast. Screw school.
I have this room all to myself coz my roomate Effa left me :-(

Photobucket
Carol, me and Erin getting ready (drunk) to go out. We were heading to the W that night. That so called club is so over rated. Thank goodness we got in for free, thank you Lonny for getting us in.

Photobucket
Lanai (balcony) of our hotel. The idea was taking a picture of me and the beach at the back, too bad can't really see the ocean. The building with the green roof is a church. Its roof comes all the way down to the ground.

Photobucket
This a another view from our hotel room. When you look to the left is the beach, when you look to the right it's the mountain. Cool ya? Hawaii is one of the places with mountains and ocean in close proximity!

Photobucket
You see tons of these in Hawaii especially Waikiki. Jungle of hotels and resorts.

Photobucket
They called that little island Chinaman's Hat. Coz it looks like one. Haha. Somewhere near North Shore?

Photobucket
Welcome to Hanauma Bay. A great spot for snorkeling. I once saw a whale there!!!!! Whale was far from shore of course.

Photobucket
Aww Happy times @ D&B's. Sending me off to Chicago. See, I told you, we are fun peeps. Don't know how many brain cells and liver cells I killed over the course of 3 1/2 years in Hawaii.

Photobucket
This was a fun day. We skipped class to hang out at the beach. We stopped by at Blow Hole to take a few pics before heading to Waimanalo Beach.

Photobucket
Waimanalo Beach. Nice surfing spot. Isn't it gorgeous? By the way, I took this picture. Not stolen from the web. =P

There are more to Hawaii than these fews pictures that I put up. Go, discover Hawaii for yourself.
It would be nice to visit Hawaii again with Rina and Erin and Effa and Nora. =) You guys added something extra to my memories of Hawaii.

VENTING machine

Imagine a cold rainy night, really great for snuggle up under your favorite comforter and have a good night sleep... Just as you think you'd only wake up to your loyal alarm clock, you heard tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap coming in through your window. You toss and turn like a sardine in a can trying to get back to sleep coz it's only 545AM and don't have to be up for another 30 minutes. Tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap continues... You are FRUSTRATED, PISSED AS HELL but you couldn't do anything (yelling, throwing stones and rotten eggs) because the noise came from your neighbor! The rich crude obnoxious beloved neighbor. What can you do now? Or what should you do now?

It's been going on for months now. My neighbor, an old woman, tap tap tap to warm up and get herself ready for her taichi class EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MORNING. I set my alarm for 620AM during weekdays but she usually managed to wake me up before 600AM. Please tell me what should I do?
1. Call the police? No way, my neighbor is rich, they'll just give the police some kopi money (ie bribing) and it will be as if nothing had happened. I just wish I'm in the states. Coz ppl can actually complain if the neighbors are being too loud during sleeping hours (trust me 5 something in the AM is still sleeping hours) and the police will do their job to tell the neighbor to keep it down or even better, call off the party or whatever non sense that's going on. WELL NOT IN MALAYSIA I CAN ASSURE YOU. If you got them cash, you are above the laws.
2. Talk to that bitch about what's been bothering me for months?? No way, if she is considerate enough she wouldn't have done it at the first place! Some Malaysians can be selfish, IGNORANT, inconsiderate fuckers
One more thing about this FUCKING neighbor of mine. They FUCKING place they STINKIN mother fuckin trash cans (the ones made of rusty tin and ain't got no covers) in front of who's house? OUR HOUSE! My family moved it once back to they side and we planted nice flowers. What they did? They fuckin poisoned our plants and moved the trash can right back at where it was! WHAT THE FUCK? Uggghhhhhhhh every time when I have to think about dealing with this neighbor. I just want to say fuck it Imma go over and bitch slap those mother fuckers.
I know there is such thing as karma, but it ain't coming soon enough for those people!
Please tell me what should I do? Yea I'm heated and I'm fuckin pissed! The worst thing in life is these ppl that don't matter to you get on your nerve everyday! I can handle my love ones giving me problems. But these mother fuckers???

If you ever wonder who this neighbor is. They own the Pearl International Hotel on Old Klang Road in KL.
*I remember when I was in college, I stayed in a dorm. There were these skaterboys be skate boarding right outside our dorm way pass midnight. I would yell at them and let them know ppl need to sleep. They would apologize and go somewhere else.

St. Patty's Day

No, not yet. This is just a reminder. St. Patrick's Day is not until one week from now which is March 17th. On that day, it will be nice and festive to put on somethin green, any shade of green is fine. Also, it's a day where you can drink (preferably Irish beer, lol) til you drop and no one gives a rat's ass coz errbody is drunk! SALUD!!!!

I have a confession...

... to make. Just now I went crazy (literally) shopping at GAP. They were having some great sales!!!! Up to 60% off. Imagine that. I tried on probably 10 tops but only picked 3 to purchase. My mom too got something for herself and trust me she never shopped at GAP. So it was a good trip besides the fact that my sister got bored waiting for me picking out clothes and trying them on. Sorry sis!
Anywho, we came back I was looking at the receipt and decided why don't I figure out how much we saved. RM274. YUP. Ahh~ I have something to wear to the concert. Sweet!
Photobucket
One of my new tops. Doesn't it make you feel summer-y. I LOVE IT!

I'm going!

Where to you might ask. =) I finally got my hands on them Sunburst tickets!!! Yes yes yes, I'll be going. Yes I'm willing to spend RM200 no RM173 (thanks to my friend Jeremy Tan ^^) for that concert for The Roots and John Legend and some other ppl.
A little side note. I told my friend Paul about the concert and The Roots, asking him who they are hoping he'll know. The first thing he said was oh they are HOT. The second thing he told me was I grew up with them guys. I asked him to define "grew up". Paul really did grew up with them because they were from the same hometown went to the same high school. So, he said I should definitely go check em out. =)
I am quite excited for the fact that I get to see John Legend!!!!! He is talented and he is hot! I actually had the chance of seeing John Legend for free three years ago. My girls and I went to Miami for Spring break, just so happen he was there too. At that time, he wasn't well known, so for his performance you get to go for free. Well, I'd been listening to him since his first album, of course I wanna go. But, my girls said no. Now, that he's at my door step, I'm going!

Same same but different?

Do we Asians really look that much alike? Find out here. Take this fun test and let me know how you did. I scored 6 out of 18 LOL!!!! Below average that is. It means I really can't tell if you're Japanese or Korean. What a shame?

Saw this fun post in Bubbles in Paradise.
